TUTELO LODGE #161
ORDER, OF THE ARROW
BLUE RIDGE MOUNTAINS COUNCIL
BOY SCOUTS OF AMERICA
Dear
Brother:
Congratulations! You have just taken the Obligation of Scouting's National Honor
Society, the Order of the Arrow. Your journey on the path of Brotherhood,
Cheerfulness, and Service begins today. I hope that you will cherish this
membership, as you were elected to the Order by your fellow Scouts.
You now have
a responsibility to those who chose you. Your service to Scouting must not stop
here. Strive to give even more service to your unit, and continue the journey of
doing so in the Order of the Arrow. I've enclosed a Function Registration form,
in the hopes that you will return, joining your new brothers in cheerful
service.
Brother,
your opportunities in the OA do not end after your Ordeal; rather they are just
beginning. In ten months, you will become eligible to seal your membership by
attaining the Brotherhood Honor. The same form you use to register for the next
function also allows you to sign up to complete the Brotherhood at our Fall
Ordeal, one year from now.
Also find
enclosed an application to complete your
First Year Arrowman Award. This
honor is both easy to attain and especially meaningful. ONLY new members are
eligible for this award, and it can only be earned in your first 12 months in
the Lodge. Attaining Brotherhood at the first opportunity is among the
requirements, so be sure to save the date on your calendar and register soon!
Finally, my
Brother, I would like to personally invite you to attend our Executive Committee
Meetings. There are always opportunities for new Brothers to become involved in
the workings of our Lodge, whether that is in the capacity of a Committee
Chairman, Chapter Officer, or Troop Representative.
In
conclusion, I'd like to congratulate you once again. As you consider the
significance of this occasion, also stop to consider some of the many doors it
has opened for you. Do not hesitate to contact me should you have any questions.
Yours in
Brotherhood,
Drew M.
